on “The Betrayal of the American Dream”

Those of you who know me, take a moment to explain to the others how I dislike either watching or listening to news. You won’t miss anything, I promise. I have to make an extraordinary commitment in order to do this. Why? The information comes too slow. I can read words much faster than I can see or hear them.

So, when I recommend a video, I regard it as a easily comprehensible and factually accurate guideline to the topic at hand: here, the gutting of the middle class, its infrastructures, and its families. What can we do about it, you ask? Amend the tax code, for starters. ~Via

Donald L. Barlett and James B. Steele, the authors of The Betrayal of the American Dream, talk with Amy Goodman. Watch it here. Their book chronicles how the American middle class has been systematically impoverished and its prospects thwarted in favor of a new ruling elite. Barlett and Steele have worked together for more than 40 years, sharing two Pulitzer Prizes and two National Magazine Awards. The duo joins us for the hour to discuss the assault on the middle class, the great tax heist, deregulation, the end of retirement, the outsourcing of U.S. jobs, the 2012 election and more.
