Culture of Fear: Ipsi Dixit

By Olivia LaRosa

I grew up under the influence of a Republican-neocon-capitalist-libertarian, my father. As far as I can tell, he has spent his life in fear.

Fear of women, fear of critical thinkers, fear of people with brown skin, fear of people who resist the enslavery of capitalism, fear of people who do not believe in the Invisible Hand or the “rational market actors.”

How can you “believe in” rationality? Anything that people say that you must “believe in” is ipsi dixit not real.

Here is a short sweet documentary called The Culture of Fear. Because of my early programming and the forty-year-long quest to understand that programming,

I know that The Culture of Fear is alive and well. I know that it should be brushed aside in order to help people to find the common ground that we all share.
